RowErg or WaterRower Performance: plan your rowing space

Two different starting points

The Concept2 RowErg uses air resistance and the PM5 monitor. The WaterRower Performance Ergometer uses water resistance and a wooden frame. The reference RowErg listing below is the standard-leg version; the WaterRower reference is the Performance Ergometer in Oak. Other generations, leg heights and wooden finishes can change the offer. Measure it in use

Mark the manufacturer’s full operating footprint on the floor. Allow space to get on and off and to move around the machine. Measure doorways, stairs and corners along the delivery route as well. Do not use a storage photograph as evidence that the machine will fit while someone is rowing.

Compare the order, not just the frame

Check that the monitor and any connection hardware you want are included. Budget for floor protection where appropriate and follow the care instructions for the selected machine. Water-resistance equipment has its own water-maintenance guidance; air-resistance equipment has a different care routine.

Delivery deserves its own check

Ask what the delivery service includes: arrival at the building, room placement and assembly are separate questions. Confirm the date and any access restrictions with the retailer.
