DOMESTIC ROBOTICS
Dyson Nurovi: the triangle reaches the corner
Round robots have spent years negotiating square rooms. Dyson's new family changes the geometry — and divides dry cleaning, washing and future ambitions into three distinct machines.

The clever part is not simply a new robot. It is a family whose differences can be explained before the buyer reaches the basket.
R1 and R2 are UK consumer products
Dyson launched the R1 Nurovi Dry and R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry on 3 September 2026. Their official UK pages list prices of £499.99 and £749.99 respectively. The R1 is a dry vacuum with a self-emptying dock; the R2 adds floor washing. Both are domestic consumer appliances, not professional or industrial cleaning equipment.
The product pages showed conflicting stock signals at our 5 October check — purchase controls alongside an out-of-stock notice — so availability must be confirmed at the basket. A listed price is not the same as a guaranteed delivery date.
The corner is a design brief
Dyson's extending side sweeper addresses edges on both models. The R2 adds Reuleaux-triangle washing pads: rounded triangles that keep a constant width while rotating, intended to take the wet-cleaning surface into corners more completely than a circular pad.
It is a good piece of engineering theatre because the shape explains itself. The practical questions are quieter: whether the robot crosses your thresholds, avoids cables and low furniture, maps reliably and can be maintained without an expensive trail of consumables.
R3 remains a preview
Dyson has announced the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV, but its current presentation is a sign-up proposition rather than a confirmed UK purchase with a price and delivery date. Treat it as an announced future model. Do not assume that every demonstrated feature, including UV treatment, is available in the R1 or R2.
R1 and R2 have UK prices. R3 has attention, but not yet the same buying certainty.
Before inviting a robot home
Measure the lowest furniture, doorway lips and narrow passages. Decide whether dry cleaning is enough or whether washing is worth the extra machine care. Check the dock footprint, replacement parts, data controls and how much routine maintenance remains after the promise of automation.

THE LIVING SELECT VIEW
A clearer range is more useful than a longer feature list.
The R1 and R2 make their jobs legible: vacuum, or vacuum and wash. The R3 is the interesting horizon. Buy for the floor you have now, not the demonstration that may arrive later.
